Oracle9iAS Release 2 is fully compliant with major Internet standards. These include J2EE 1.3, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, WebDAV, LDAP v3, SSL v3, and XML.

Oracle HTTP Server includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • Based on Apache 1.3.22
  • Integration with OC4J and Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On
  • Managed through OEM
  • Support for other web servers (including Netscape iPlanet and Microsoft IIS) through proxy plug-ins
  • Enhanced high availability features
  • Enhanced diagnostic and troubleshooting facilities

Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE (OC4J) includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • J2EE 1.3 certified
  • Create Web pages and dynamic content with JSP 1.2 and Servlet 2.3
  • Create business logic with EJB 2.0 using container-managed-relationships, EJB QL, and MessageDriven beans
  • Access databases and existing systems with JDBC 2.0 Extension, JMS 1.0, JTA 1.0, and Connector 1.0
  • Support for authentication and authorization with JAAS 1.0
  • Standards based XML support with JAXP 1.0
  • Tight integration with Oracle Advanced Queuing for messaging services
  • High availability through servlet and EJB clustering
  • Managed through OEM
  • Increased application performance through Java Object Cache
  • Integration with Oracle9i JDeveloper
  • Integration with Oracle9iAS Single Sign-On

Oracle9iAS Web Services includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • J2EE and PL/SQL application support
  • Document Style Web Services including support for asynchronous services through JMS
  • WSDL, UDDI, and SOAP support
  • EAR file deployment with automatic generation of Web Services endpoint home page
  • Automatic generation of test pages for easy testing of Web Services from a browser during development
  • Stream processing for XML and HTML streams
  • JSP tag library for creating JSP Web Services clients based on a WSDL file
  • Support for custom serializers/deserializers allowing use of non simple Java types
  • Managed through OEM
  • Integration with Oracle9i JDeveloper

Oracle9i Business Components for Java (BC4J) includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • Oracle9i database support
